Backup & restore of AD system state


Their two way to get Window Server 2008 r2 recovery files they are:-

  1. Backup is online.
  2. Restore is offline. 
* Multiple hardware is used to (SAN) Store Area Network
* Online backup is used to restore all user's & their data.

In window server their are two types of backup are:-
a) Data Backup.
b) Server Backup.

Soo we gonna do restore offline settings to perform AD system state backup first of all logic into the A.D.D.C as admin & open roles container in the server manager now now expand features container \add feature\next\install close.
-> Now open command prompt & type - wbadmin start systemstatebackupbackuptarget: d: .
-> Now it will ask to start backup click yes. & Write y (yes) two times and over.

After compilation of backup delete allow users computer & restart your A.D.D.C =>

  1. Start with A.D restore mode by using F8 (safe mode).
  2. Login with administrator & directory restore mode password.
  3. If you forgot your AD restore mode password then normally start your ADDC and open command prompt type ntdsutil & hit enter.
  4. Set dsrm password hit enter.
  5. Reset password on server eg hvt.liontech.com.
  6. Type password .
  7. It will display password .Now quite and exit if password is successfully configured or restart ,now restart ADDC & choose safe mode by pressing F8 & select option AD restore mode & login with a valid SAM account .
  8. Open command prompt type wbadmin start syatemrecovery & hit enter.
  9. wbadmin get version.
  10. At last wbadmin start systemrecovery - version:(todays date)68:23.
  11. Write y to yes two times and your process is finished.
