Switch (work on the base of MAC address)

There are two types of HUB

=>ACTIVE & PASIVE   now a day it is not used so

Now hub topic is finished other types are switch having two layer used for connecting two or more computers.

SWITCH: - switch is a hardware or connectivity device. It works according to the mac address table. when switch receive frame from the source computer  , it consult that frame within mac address table , if mac address entry will be found in the mac table , then it deliver that frame to correct computer in network .it is a two layer device it work's on the second layer of the OSI called data link layer . So it is a unicast device. It has ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) that make the mac address table.

                    MAC: - Media Access Control

                                 It is full duplex device

There are two types of switch

1> Manageable switch (we can manage them & set security on them)

2> Non-manageable switch (Act as hub)one layer , two layer , three layer
